Journal of 7 (JO7) delves into the untold and often taboo stories within African culture, focusing on the ‘Seven Deadly Sins. The piece stems from Olu’s lived experiences of these cultural norms, with a breathtaking performance weaving through themes of relationships with her mother, migration, polygyny, fatal curses, and toxic doctrines passed down through generations.
JO7 merges a range of Afro Dance styles forms such as Azonto, Coupe Decale, and Afro House with traditional dances like Kpanlogo, Gome, and Mapouka.
Olu presents an authentic portrayal of African culture, addressing sensitive topics with care and respect.
