Code of Conduct
Please agree to the following before purchasing your tickets
CDC Festival is a celebration of Black cultures. Without these it could not exist. Black dance styles are expressions of resistance to oppression and discrimination based on race.
As CDC Festival takes place in a white dominated European context we have to deal with structures that encourage different forms of discrimination and the abuse of privilege and power. Therefore, we have trained an Awareness Team that is present at all our events. Our goal is to create a safer and braver space, where all participants can have enriching and positive experiences.
In order to reach this goal we ask everyone to contribute and consider the following points:
- Please use anti-discriminatory language whenever possible, refrain from insults, touching without consensus, reproducing stereotypes or prejudices.
- Be aware of your own boundaries and needs and respect those of others.
- We will react to any form of racism, sexism, discrimination based on gender, sexual preference, religion, ethnic or economic origin and physical or mental impairment.
- We will react to any form of sexualized violence
- If you’re not affected by anti-black racism please refrain from features of cultural appropriation such as Black/African hairstyles
- To facilitate a more inclusive language, we ask you to ask others which pronouns they would like to be addressed with
- Look out for each other, listen to each other and offer your help
- Actively call in the Awareness Team to situations early in the process
We offer 25% discount on all tickets (except the Early Blind Bird ticket) for youths under 16 years old, disabled persons and people who are affected by anti-black racism.
We all want to share good vibes and dance together! For many of us to be able to do so, awareness of the above written is required. If you feel like you want to talk about this personally, feel free to contact us via awareness@cdc-festival.com
